Ivan Kotliarevskyi is an outstanding Ukrainian writer, poet, and playwright, the founder of modern Ukrainian literature. Ivan Kotliarevskyi was born on September 9, 1769, in Poltava, in the family of a serf peasant. He received his education at the Poltava gymnasium, where he showed interest in literature and arts. In his youth, Kotliarevskyi often visited theaters, which left an indelible mark on his creative biography.
